Do I need a book to take this course?

The current edition of the textbook is required before, during, and after class for the following courses:

  • ACLS
  • BLS
  • ENPC
  • Instructor Courses – Instructor and Provider books as applicable
  • ITLS
  • NRP Skills
  • PALS
  • PHTLS
  • S.T.A.B.L.E.
  • TNCC
  • 30 Hr EKG Certification

These requirements are in accordance with the certifying agencies, including the AHA, AAP, ENA, NAEMT, The Stable Program, and the State of Florida. This information was provided on our website, on the registration page for your course, in your confirmation email, and/or by the person who registered you in person or over the phone. If you do not have the book, you must reschedule the class in accordance to our rescheduling policy (see: www.MedicalTraining.cc/cancellation-policy)

Is the pretest required for this course?

There is a mandatory pre-test, which must be completed prior to class for the following courses:

  • ACLS – Online AHA Self-Assessment and Pre-Course Work (video lessons); BLS Completion pretest in ACLS Prep Packet if BLS Completion is being taken.
  • BLS – Review questions from the textbook. See: Prep Packet for answer sheet.
  • ENPC – Online modules.
  • Instructor Courses – Various requirements must be met before attending the course. Please call 772-878-3085 for specific instructions.
  • ITLS – Prep Packet pretest.
  • NRP Skills – The online portion of the course must be completed before taking the skills portion.
  • PALS – Online AHA Self-Assessment and Pre-Course Work (video lessons); BLS Completion pretest in PALS Prep Packet if BLS Completion is being taken.
  • PHTLS – Prep Packet pretest.
  • STABLE – Prep Packet pretest.
  • TNCC – Online modules.
  • 30 Hr EKG Certification – Review Questions from chapters 1-6 of the textbook. See: Prep Packet
  • 30 Hr IV Therapy Certification – 14 Hour Packet, provided via email, shipped, or picked up in the office

Can I take a renewal course if my card is expired?

The American Heart Association’s policy regarding participants with expired cards entering renewal courses is as follows: “Students who present an expired Provider card at a renewal course will not be given the option of remediation  (extra help and retesting after written or skills evaluation). They will need to repeat the entire provider course if they can not successfully meet the course completion requirements when initially evaluated.“(AHA Program Administrative Manual, PG 51) Please review the study material prior to coming to course.

AHA eCards – What do I need to know?

You MUST provide a valid and accurate email address upon registration in order to receive your eCard. Once a class is processed, we will assign an eCard to you. The AHA will send you an email containing the link needed to validate the card from ecards@heart.org . If you do not receive your card, please check your spam/junk/promotions folders before contacting the office. You MUST open the American Heart Association’s email and complete the steps in order for it to be valid. You will receive a special eCard code which can be shared with your employer to verify that your card is valid and current. The validity of cards can be checked by students and employers at heart.org/cpr/mycards . We will send the eCard code to your hospital’s Education Department or HR if they are a client of ours who paid for your courses or provided you with a discount code.

When will I receive my card?

Although we work diligently to receive and process all paperwork in a timely manner, please allow 3-5 business days for processing to be completed and cards to be sent out.

I would like to take the BLS Completion Course after my ACLS or PALS, but did not register and pay. Can I take the course?

You may take the course, as long as you have completed the BLS Completion Course pretest in the ACLS or PALS Prep Packet beforehand. Please call the office at 772-878-3085 as soon as possible so we can take your payment and add you to the course roster. BLS cards will not be sent until payment is submitted

Will I get Continuing Education Hours for this course?

We will submit hours to CE Broker in accordance to Florida’s various medical boards (e.g. Florida Board of Nursing, Florida Board of Emergency Medical Services, etc.). Call the office at 772-878-3085 to check if your specific profession will get hours for your
course. Please note: In general, we do not provide CMEs to physicians.

    • ACLS 2 Day Full Course – 14 hours for most medical professions
    • ACLS 1 Day Refresher – Nurses get 4 hours (Cardiac Update); most other medical professions receive 7 hours
    • BLS – 4 hours for EMTs, CNAs, dentists, and dental hygienists; Nurses and medics do not receive CE hours for BLS
    • PALS 2 Day Full Course – 14 hours for most medical professions
    • PALS 1 Day Refresher – Nurses get 4 hours (Pediatric Emergencies); most other medical professions receive 7 hours

I failed my course, what is my next step?

Please contact the office by calling 772-878-3085 to make arrangements to retake the course. Depending on the course, we will usually offer this for free or at a reduced cost. In some cases, retesting may be possible, but we must meet the requirements established by the certifying agencies, including the AHA, AAP, ENA, NAEMT, The Stable Program, and the State of Florida.
