Inspired by the many tragedies that have struck our nation recently, including the shootings at Marjory Stoneman Douglas, Fort Lauderdale Airport, and Pulse Nightclub, we have begun teaching the newly created Basic Bleeding Control courses to our local community.
A person who is bleeding can die from blood loss within five minutes. While emergency responders will arrive as quickly as possible, bystanders are almost always there first. In the case of disaster and high-casualty incidents, emergency services are often spread thin.
This course will provide civilians with the skills and basic tools to stop uncontrolled bleeding in an emergency situation
Dr. Lenworth M. Jacobs, Trauma Surgeon and leader of the Hartford Consensus, discusses the importance of teaching bleeding control techniques to community leaders and the general public.
